How it works

More to wear, less to own.

HOUSE GUEST connects people who own beautiful clothes with people who'd love to wear them. Here's how it works on both sides — and how we keep things safe.

Borrow it

For Renters

01
Browse closets

Filter by occasion, size, brand, colour and city. Save favourites with a tap.

02
Request your dates

Pick your dates and send a request. Nothing is charged — the lender accepts or declines, and you can cancel free until you pay.

03
Confirm pickup & pay

Meet locally, check the piece over, then tap Confirm pickup & pay. Your card is charged and the damage deposit is held at that moment. Shipping is coming soon.

04
Wear it & return

Bring it back clean by the agreed date. The damage deposit is only held, and it's released once the lender confirms the piece came back in good shape.

Earn from your closet

For Lenders

01
List your piece

Snap photos worn and flat, set a daily rate and a damage deposit of up to $500. HOUSE GUEST is local pickup only for now.

02
Set up payouts

Add your payout details once through our payment provider so earnings can reach your bank.

03
Accept & hand it off

Accept a request to hold the dates, then meet your renter. They pay at the handoff — take photos of the piece's condition together.

04
Get paid

Your payout starts once the payment is confirmed. HOUSE GUEST keeps 12% — you keep the other 88%. The damage deposit is never part of your earnings.

HOUSE GUEST's role

Trust & Safety

●
Verified email

Every account verifies their email before listing or renting.

●
Damage deposit

A damage deposit of $0–$500 is held on the renter's card at pickup, never charged, and released once the lender confirms a safe return. Long bookings are limited by how long a card hold can last.

●
Damage claims

If a piece comes back damaged, open a claim with photos. Only HOUSE GUEST can approve taking money from a damage deposit.

●
Two-way reviews

Renters and lenders can review each other after a completed rental.

Still being decided

We don’t yet have a set rule for cleaning costs, missed handoffs, or exactly what time a piece must be back on the last day. Rather than invent a penalty, we ask both sides to agree these in messages before the handoff. If something goes wrong, contact HOUSE GUEST and we’ll mediate.
